It seems things are going to change for a while for the TV producers, because LucasFilms creator George Lucas has announced LucasFilms is going out from the movie business, instead, they will be focusing on Television:
Variety talked to “Star Wars” creator George Lucas, who says that Lucasfilm is getting out of the movie business. “We don’t want to make movies. We’re about to get into television. As far as Lucasfilm is concerned, we’ve moved away from the feature film thing, because it’s too expensive and it’s too risky. I think the secret to the future is quantity. Because that’s where it’s going to end up.”
Well, I have to say it, I’m a little surprised to hear George Lucas doesn’t care much for quality, but for quantity… actually, from my point of view, the best Star Wars was the V (Empire Strikes Back); the characters really got developed there, but that’s just my personal opinion.
The reality is that our friend, George, is going to start on the TV series, so let’s just hope he doesn’t end up producing the Ewoks© or something. We need more “like 24″ shows…
