MacOS 10.4.5 Hacked

So far so good for the opinions like “we aren’t like those big companies, we don’t make money; we want to share all information”. Yeah, right. Maxxuss has released a patch at [EDITED: we can’t show you this guys!] to kick MacOS 10.4.5 Intel protection ars. Now you can install the beautiful MacOSX in any compatible hardware. Of course, there are a couple of fixes and not all will be working, but it is an “advance”.

He is planning to release a DVD (I guess, he is planning to sell it) with the pach and other stuff inside (ATI SSE2 patches, and the Maxxuss Tuning package) in a bit, so stay tuned. I don’t see the patch on the page, but I’m sleepy and maybe it is just me ;)

Discussions, comments a side; maxxuss, if you did it; that’s impressive man. Really impressive!

NOTE: William has made a pretty good points on his comment, about how I rushed my conclusions (which, I think is true in part, but I argue different below) and he gives a very argument about the patch. Scroll down and read it!

I hate to break it to you, but you must do a little research before coming to false conclusions. Maxxuss has provided other members of the www.osx86project.org forum with patch files so that they have been able to design different .ppf files for the patching of the OS X files that were already available on a “pirate server.” Please note that DMCA requires that I not post the following link on any US-based website so I will write it backwards: [EDITED], but this website provides links to various mirrors that contain both instructions and patchfiles. This setup is necessary to avoid threats from Apple’s legal team and the like. The guy really is a genius. I currently have triple boot WinXP SP2, Fedora Core 4, and MacOS X 10.4.5 thanks to him. Although certain hardware-specific functions do not work at this time, I have no doubt the forum’s massive following will have little trouble keeping up with Apple’s engineers. Maxxuss, who lives in Russia, does not sell his work for profit, and thus he deserves a great amount of respect.

Williams,
As you may noticed, I’m not an expert on the cracking theme. I don’t follow the subject day by day; but I intend to. My fault if I rush on conclusions, I tend to do that. Yes, you can hit me in the neck if you want!

As I see it, he is providing tools so other people can design different .ppf files and patch, the OS X “pirate” files. Maybe he isn’t doing it directly, but… the Apple lawyers won’t be very kind with him I guess (we hope they forget the whole thing).

The rumors are they are getting ready, but those are just rumors and you may have more accurate info if you follow the guy’s progress every day. I encourage you to keep us posted.

Well, there isn’t much accessible information on the subject, just versions. Nothing accurate; but I don’t have time to do a proper research as I will love to have.

Anyway; keep us posted William!

if im not wrong, i’ve seen a DVD with all the patches you need to install “correctly” this osx86, try searching on digg.com

but, c’mon, do you really think that apple people didn’t noticed about this hacks? since the first ‘osx intel version’ was “leaked” (as a rumour, of course) those guys were hidden in the shadows specting to see the reactions of the geeks/nerds/cool-guy-with-money-and-lots-of-gadgets who would buy anything incredible useless as this(aka: macintel).

(call me a paranoid, but i think they *are* doing that)

really, if you think about this just for a sec.
its a *great* way to get your product widely spreaded all around the world, without spending a cent!

or at least, better than the ms windows ‘buy original microsoft software, an original Windows XP copy is better than a pirate one :D’… ;P
