Merry, Merry Client’s Christmas

Thanks for the english corrections Tim Vaughan!
What do you normally do for christmas? One of my new plans this year is to expand my usual “thanks for a great year” note into a gift basket for my clients. This is the image that I have in my head when I think about the outcome:

Gift Basket
Gift Baskets are more cool than any other gift because:

  • They aren’t expensive
  • There are varity
  • If someone’s gives your client the same gift, it won’t be exactly the same
  • It will last longer, because isn’t just a box of cholocate
  • It’s fun to see what’s in the basket
  • Your client will be the most popular guy in the office when he shares his gift with everyone. And if he ends up being more popular with his colleagues because of you, he’ll be more happy with you and your work
  • Most of the times, it haves healthy food.

Gift baskets aren’t that expensive - only about $50 per client. You may think that it’s too much money but in my experience it’s a great investment. I spoke to some friends who do this - one sent out 12 gift baskets and from those 12 existing clients he got a job worth $4000. So he spent about $600 and got a new client (via an existing client) into the bargain. Of course, you may spend the same amount and get zero

Isn’t this just kissing your clients’ arses?

It’s not about kissing anyone’s arse. It’s about showing your client how much you appreciate his business and his relationship with you. It’s also a great opportunity to fix old mistakes (or at least a small part of them). So, spread your love and show your clients how much you value them. Treat them with respect and they might be sending you a present next year - in the form of more work!

Unfortanily I can’t do this experiment this year because I’m overseas and Argentina has a little bit of troubles paying with creditcards. But I will do my best sending emails and some notes if I can ;( anyway, if you can do it, do your best!
