Previously in the Part 1 of Myth: The Entrepreneur, I explained how being an Entrepreneur is no easy walk, you won’t find anything harder than being at your own out there, is a big, ugly scary world. Of yours it will be fun, but that’s only if you like the adventures. That’s what I’m about to talk now, even if it sounds stupid at first but it will show it value later, I promise… in the mean while… are you a knight?
No more Princess?
It’s sad, but it’s true, there are no more princess to save. There are two kind of human being, the one who likes the danger, and the one who doesn’t. If you are trying to become a business owner, or if you are just thinking about it, then you know it better than I. In the past, we heard stories about Knights and Adventurers who fought with giants and dragons in order to save Princess and earn their kingdom. Today, those are just stories, there are no more Dragons to kill, no more giants to fight and certanly, there are no more Princess to save!
What’s left? just life. You will find yourself working eight, ten hours a day, boring at your desk, looking out the window and seeing there a part of yourself dying… that if you are an adventurer. If you are a guy (or a gal!) who just want to live a quiet cool life, then having a job in a company is a dream, the smell of the fresh coffee, the group work at the office, the meetings, the parties and the promotion at the end of the year, that’s really something and I mean it. It’s really exiting!
But there are a few out there… who think “that’s ok! but… it isn’t for me. I’m here taking a place which I don’t fully enjoy, and what is worst, here can be someone who really enjoys a company-office work… but I want exitement, I want something totally different.”
Well my friend, you want to fight a battle. And I’m not talking about war, I’m talking about business.
Your Kingdom
If you ask your friends and the people you know what’s the more exiting the did in the past 2 years you will be embarrased. They will say things like:
- “I went to Bahamas with my wife!, they have nice restaurants there!”
- “Me and a friend helped my brother to move and his couch went down the stairs from a second floor!”
- “I meet Joana“
- “I crashed my car on a tree! it was crazy!
- “I got trap on an elevator!
And the list goes on, and on… But, the thing here is not doing Bungee Jumping or Cave Diving with just two matches, I’m talking about creating something that may live after you die. Something that if you control, it might give you millions and millions of happy times, and also it might make you rich! something that will help other people to run their lives, to be in a 8 hours office work, because they will end up working for that dream you have every night. Your own true living Kingdom, in form of a company.
And it is not just making numbers at the end of the quarter and being sit on the big desk smooking a cigar, it’s totally different from that. It can be hard as hell, it can kill you before you know it, it can leave you in the street or it can make you one of the most great thinkers of our time. It is, indeed, an adventure you will only know where it starts, and where it ends.
Step by Step
Where do you see yourself ten years from now? And twenty years? Let’s go futher to the moment of your eternal rest, while they are throwing you to the big black pit with the last suit you’ll ever use. What they will be putting there? an Icon? a Dreamer? a Story Teller? a Visionary? a Leader? That’s up to you, and I would say that’s your life goal. Whatever you want to do, is whatever you will become, there is no limits for what you can achieve. People often think they can’t do much because other people did a lot, and by thinking that, they close the only door that will allow them to transform their and other’s reality, to “make a dent in the universe” as someone said a long time ago.
Step by Step means you should take a deep breath and let the fire go out from your lungs, you need to see the future, but you also need to see the present and make real choices and real decisions based on your current position. You need a plan, a plan that will take you from A to B, and then from B to C, until you reach Z and everything is over. After that, you will find the path yourself, and believe me, it WILL be hard, every step of the road.
But until this day, can’t think on anything more exiting.
